five minute friday:: DOOR
Once again, here we are at this week’s Five Minute Friday, wherein I, along with whole a bunch of other folks, free-write for five minutes flat on a one-word prompt: no editing, no over-thinking, no worrying about perfect grammar or punctuation.
Here’s the link for Kate Motaung’s website if you ever want to join in!
Here is this week’s prompt:
Ready, set, go.
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)
He is The Way. He is the way to heaven, he is the way to healing, He is the way to my sanity. He is The Answer. When I am overwhelmed, when I am so frustrated I feel like I’m going to explode, when I am out of ideas on how to solve my life’s problems, when I am bogged down by all the lies my culture or my own self are chanting in my brain, when I am at a loss regarding how to mend a broken relationship, when I am in a pit of grief, when I am drenched with regret and not sure how to make sense of my past, when the unknown future fills me with terror, when I hear the news reports of rioting and feel paralyzed by the enormity of humanity’s depravity and lack of compassion…
When all of this… and more… You, Lord are The Door. You are the way to freedom. You are the only avenue I can take to get me to a place of peace, to get me to calm down, to fill me with hope again. Your Spirit, Lord, is the only thing that can bring me true and lasting hope and comfort and joy and peace. You, Lord, are the door to your Father and all of his promises.
May I alway remember this, Lord. May I cling to You, always desperate for more time with You, as I allow You alone to fill me and enable me to face the challenges in my life.

What about you?
