Five Minute Friday:: DWELL
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” ~Psalm 91:1
Oh, Lord Jesus, thank You for this truth. Thank You that despite the hardship I experience, despite the tragedy I see around me, despite the struggles I am currently watching my friends and loved ones go through, despite the horrors I see in the news, despite the fear I feel crowding around me, even despite the fear I feel rising up inside myself… there is peace to be found in You.
You really truly are here even in the seasons and challenges that no one would ever want to face. You still perform miracles. You still shower love on Your kids. You still breathe dreams and hopes and peace into our souls. You still bring comfort and courage and wholeness to our weary, worn out, tranquility-starved souls.
The truth is that You ARE bigger than all of the turmoil. You ARE stronger and You ARE more capable and You ARE Pure Love Itself. There IS hope and peace and true love and strength and courage to be found in You.
I’ve been having a hard time with this lately, Lord. Please help me to prioritize my time better so that I can really get away from everything– all internet, all people, all things that would distract me from You and Your Truth. May I get back into the habit of, as Lysa Terkeurst says, “exchange whispers with God before shouts with the world.” Thank You for these few minutes to be with You right now. Please lead me to more precious and private moments with You so that I can tune back into You and Your truth.
Thank You for always being here for me. Thank You for always being ready to listen, ready to encourage and affirm and lift me up. Thank You for being the safest place for me to come and hide out. I take refuge in You, Lord.
It’s Five Minute Friday time again. Five minutes flat of writing on the one-word prompt provided over at Kate’s site. Just my minimally-edited thoughts.
This week’s prompt was DWELL.
What about you?
What spills out of you when you hear the word “dwell”?
