Persevere:: My One Word for 2016

On New Year’s morning, I woke up in the wee hours before anyone else in my house was awake, as per my usual, and I asked God what might be my “guiding word” for 2016.  This is what I heard in response:

Persevere

When the going gets tough

When you feel alone in your fight for righteousness and wisdom and purity

When the conversations are hard or uncomfortable

When you feel inadequate for the task

When the day is overwhelming

Persevere, my girl

Persevere in praying for your family

your friends

your community

your future

your nation

your world

Persevere in trusting Me

Persevere in telling your story

in being brave

in being transparent

in writing it all out

in opening up your life to others

Persevere in encouraging the downtrodden

the weak

those in despair

Persevere in rising early to quietly be with Jesus

Persevere in getting filled up with His truth, His courage, and His wisdom

Persevere in doing your best

in “following the peace”

in tuning in to My voice

in following My lead

in taking life day by day, moment by moment

And persevere in forgiving yourself when you fall short

Persevere in learning

in studying

in reading

in taking the time for yourself when you need it

in moving your body

in playing board games

in putting aside your “To Do’s” in order to have meaningful moments with your kids

Persevere in taking deep breaths

in dreaming

in stretching yourself

challenging yourself

trusting your intuition

Persevere in bringing your fears to Me

in giving yourself permission to be weak

to be scared

to be uncomfortable

to be sad

to be “not enough”

And persevere in letting Me comfort you

strengthen you

equip you

hold you

fill in your gaps

You have been crafted in love

built in goodness

fashioned in beauty

created with purpose

You are treasured, my Love

And I will be by your side

even if you feel alone

even if you feel afraid

overwhelmed

inadequate

incapable

I will lead you and love you always

Persevere with Me

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”-2

  1. Kristi, a beautiful word. “Persevere” is coated with His Presence or else it becomes mere survival. May you continue to drink deeply of His Presence with you as you press on. Blessings for 2016!

    • Absolutely. I’m hashing out my feelings about my One Word right now because I agree: “persevere” can become unhealthy if it’s not drenched in God and His leading, etc. Thank you for stopping by! 🙂

  2. Hi Kristi. My one word in 2013 was persevere. This year it is Receive. Being open to receiving all the Lord has for me, whether I see it as a blessing or am blinded to its beauty. Love how you are trusting Him to lead you in perseverance. Blessings.

    • Awesome. Thank you for sharing! And thank for stopping by. May your eyes be opened to receive all the beauty He has in store for you this year. 🙂

  3. Your image on Bonnie’s linkup caught my eye and drew me to this post, but I loved the way your words flowed. Beautiful. My word for this year is “trust.”

    • Thank you for stopping by and offering some encouragement! I really appreciate it.
      Happy “Trusting”!
