31 Days in My [Insert Label Here] Skin:
[ Overwhelmed ]
~ Psalm 61:1-3 ~
Hear my cry, O God;
Attend to my prayer.
From the end of the earth I will cry to You,
When my heart is overwhelmed;
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For You have been a shelter for me,
A strong tower from the enemy.
It has just been one hardship after another lately. One stress after another. One tragedy after another. This wave set of challenges is unrelenting.
Some of the troubles have been coming from within my own self, many of them from within my own immediate family, a couple from my extended family and a few friends… and several troubling things are coming from elsewhere in my state, country, and the world. You know, Lord, that I don’t even watch the news because I cannot handle knowing all the heartache and drama going on throughout the world (I am burdened enough by my own life), yet I am fully aware of what happened in Houston recently, and what happened in Vegas a few weeks ago, that much of my state is on fire, and that droves of families just an hour and a half away have lost their homes and everything they own to the recent (and still blazing) fires.
I am so grateful that You are with me through it all. I’m so grateful that I can call on You and that You are helping me through this. Thank You that You are always available for me; I can run to You when I am overwhelmed, I can lean on You when I have no strength. Please lead me, Lord, to know what else I can do to help others going through hard times. My heart aches for all the displaced families from the fires not far away. I thank You that You are with them, too. Please lead them and provide for them and comfort them and give them wisdom and reveal to them how very much You love them.
I’m at a loss for what else to say or pray or do, Lord. I need You. We all need You.
